Privacy Policy
What the game knows about you.
Who runs this
Grimroll is made and run by Scott Jemielity as an independent, one-person project. Questions, requests, and complaints all go to scott@blueveilwebdesigns.com.
Playing without an account
The game runs in your browser and stores your progress in your browser's local storage: your current run, your best depth, your achievements, your bestiary, and your settings. That data stays on your device. Clear your browser data and it is gone; I have no copy of it.
The optional account
You can create an account with an email address, a password, and an optional display name. An account does two things: it syncs your progress across devices, and it lets your runs post to the public leaderboard. Leaderboard entries show your display name and how deep you went, nothing else. Passwords are handled by the authentication provider and are never visible to me.
Analytics
The site and game use privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics (Umami). It counts page views and a few anonymous events so I can see what gets played. It sets no cookies, does no cross-site tracking, and does not store your IP address.
Beta feedback
The in-game feedback form stores what you type, an optional contact if you choose to leave one, and some context about where you were in the game (screen and floor) so I can reproduce what you saw. It is used only to improve the game.
What I do not do
- No ads, and no ad networks.
- No selling, renting, or sharing your data with anyone for their own purposes.
- No card numbers. Purchases go through a payment provider (see Terms below); Grimroll never sees or stores payment details.
Deleting your account or data
Email scott@blueveilwebdesigns.com from the address on your account and I will delete the account, its synced progress, and its leaderboard entries. Local progress on your own device is yours to clear.
Age
Grimroll is for players 13 and older. If you are under 13, please do not create an account.
Terms of Service
The deal, in short.
The game
Grimroll is a free browser game. Play it as much as you like. It contains fantasy violence (dice, swords, undead, a great deal of Blight) and is intended for players 13 and older.
Your account
If you make an account, keep your password to yourself and give a display name you are happy to see on a public leaderboard. I may remove display names that are offensive or impersonate someone, and I may remove leaderboard entries that were clearly not earned by playing.
Fair play
Do not try to break the game, the leaderboard, or the servers for other people. Bugs happen; if you find one, the feedback form or an email is very welcome.
Purchases
Grimroll may offer optional purchases: die skins, supporter packs, and Ember caches. These are cosmetics, thank-yous, and head-starts. They are never exclusive power, and nothing behind a price is required to finish the game or reach the leaderboard. Purchases are processed by a third-party payment provider acting as merchant of record; they handle your payment details, their terms apply to the transaction, and Grimroll never sees your card number. Ember caches are consumed as you play. What a purchase unlocks may be adjusted over time to keep the game balanced, but I will not take away something you paid for without offering a fair replacement or a refund.
Availability and changes
The game is in active development. Features, balance, and content will change, and the servers behind accounts and the leaderboard may occasionally be down. I will do my best to keep your synced progress safe, but the copy in your browser is the one you should treat as yours.
The usual
The game is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for losses that come from playing it or from any outage. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Continuing to play after an update to these terms means you accept the update; substantive changes get a note on this page.

Refund Policy
Getting your Embers back.
Consumables
Ember caches and timed blessings are consumed the moment they are granted to your account, so they are non-refundable once granted.
One-time durables
Die skins, Patron, and Champion are one-time purchases. If you bought one in error, or bought it twice, email me within 14 days of the purchase and, provided it is unused, I will refund it. Please include the email on your account and the receipt from the payment provider.
How to ask
Send a note to scott@blueveilwebdesigns.com. Refunds are issued back through the payment provider to the original payment method, and can take a few business days to appear.
If something is broken
If a purchase did not unlock what it promised, that is on me. Email and I will fix the entitlement or refund it, whichever you prefer, regardless of the 14-day window.
Back to the road.
The Hearth is lit and the fine print is read. Take up the march.
